KMC Transport Planning provided advice to support the delivery of Phase 3 of a major residential-led scheme to the south east of Cambridge, close to the Biomedical Campus and Babraham Park & Ride. This stage of development includes 150 new homes, commercial space, a community building and extensive landscaped areas.
Our role focused on the transport and connectivity elements of the Reserved Matters application. This required careful coordination with earlier phases of the scheme, particularly in relation to the main spine road, cycle infrastructure, and pedestrian links. We also advised on condition discharge applications and amendments to ensure consistency and efficiency across the wider masterplan.
Key aspects of our work included refining the cycle path strategy, integrating public transport opportunities, and ensuring walking and cycling connections were prioritised throughout the layout. Parking and servicing arrangements were balanced against the site’s sustainable location, supporting both residential and commercial needs while aligning with the city’s transport policies.
Engagement formed an important part of the process, with input from local authority officers, design review sessions, and direct dialogue with cycling stakeholders helping to shape the access and movement framework. This collaborative approach ensured transport issues were addressed proactively, supporting a smooth path to approval.
